Sameer Salgar had gone missing from his home on Thursday. Yesterday the bodyu00a0 of the two-and-a-half-year-old was found floating in an underground tank of an under-construction house inu00a0 Dhanakawadi. The house in Aashtavinayak Nagar at Ambegaon Pathar belongs to Sanjay Adagle.

Residents of the area contacted the fire brigade yesterday after they smelled something foul near the house. Firemen soon fished out Salgar's decomposed body.

Angry residents now blame Adagle for negligence and keeping the underground tank open. Salgar's mother Ashwini said, "Adagle left the tank uncovered for my child to die."

Locals Lata Shinde and Vinaya Salvi said, "We won't let Adagle enter this area. For the past two months, we had been requesting him to cover the tank, as we were worried about our children who play in the area. But he would arrogantly ask us to contact the contractor in-charge of the house's construction."

Residents even pelted stones at Adaglae's house breaking the windows.

Assistant Inspector S A Deshmukh of Abhiruchi police station said, "A report of accidental death has been filed. After we finish taking the statements of the relatives, we will take suitable action."

Adagle was unavailable for comment.
